As part of an ongoing initiative to ease the integration of Detection Technologies perimeter intrusion detection systems (PIDS) into third party software solutions we have now implemented the Modbus TCP/IP into the VibraSector.

Modbus is an open serial communications protocol that is often regarded as the standard communication protocol to connect electronic devices in an industrial environment. Originally developed by Modicon (now Schneider Electric) in 1979, the protocol rights have been transferred to the Modbus Organization in 2004.

The main advantages of the Modbus protocol are:

  • It is an open protocol
  • It is royalty free
  • Is is widely adopted within the security industry
  • It is easy to deploy and maintain

In order to use the Modbus protocol on the VibraSector, you have to use its latest firmware V0.8.2 Modbus operates on TCP/IP port 502. The VibraSector is the server and expects to be inbound connected from a Modbus client IDE.

If you plan to integrate the VibraSector into any third-party software (e.g. Security Management System, CCTV System etc.) please contact us now to get access to our Modbus protocol document.
